Samsung No. 1 to the iPhone 4S kicks: IDC

Samsung grabs the No. 1 position in worldwide smartphone from Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL), selling more than 23 million units in the third quarter for the first time, encouraged by the new Galaxy S phone makers II line and handset are powered by bada platform.

The company, which ordered 20 percent market share for Q3, sold over 10 million Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) Android-based handset through the Galaxy S II of April and October at the latest, the countries with the roll-out.

Apple, which took over top spot from Nokia smartphone, falling to no. 2 worldwide, delivery of 10.6 million mobile phones to 14.5%.

However, IDC warned that Samsung could temper growth in Q4 a bit by Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) iPhone 4S handset, which was launched in October 14.
