Saratoga Arts vows to unleash the artistic creativity on new year’s Eve.

City-based arts group took over the planning of the only remaining “first night” last year’s Saratoga Regional YMCA. This year marks the first night of the 16th, Saratoga and the first time that artists have a year to plan for new year’s Eve bash, held annually in the city centre is convenient.

On Wednesday at the Saratoga Arts Theater room, red-hued Saratoga first night Coordinator Jackie Marchand said that this year’s celebration will build on the success of the program past by keeping it free of alcohol, popular 5 K run and stop fireworks explosion. But as the theme of “Art Unleashed” show, the 2012 Edition also puts an emphasis on art and self-expression.

Hundreds of singers, dancers, artists and creators of all kinds will be featured in nearly three dozen locations. New year’s Eve draws 15,000 to 20,000 visitors to Broadway last year, says Marchand.

“We’re the largest new year celebration among New York City and Montreal,” he said.
